About Dale Road Music Club

Based in Purley near Croydon, the Dale Road Music Club host house concerts on monthly basis for singer-songwriters who are interested in playing in an intimate and informal setting. We are a small venue but book both international and Uk based artists and we pride ourselves on supporting musicians who have created their own original work. The openers are generally very talented and gifted performers of all ages who need experience in front of a friendly and supportive audience to show off their talent.

We aim to get all ages together from 3 – 93 and make live music accessible for all and particularly those music lovers who wouldnt go to the usual venues in pubs or clubs. Set in a living room, with room for about 40 guests, the concerts are a unique way of hearing performers up-close and unplugged.

The shows are interactive and a lot of backing vocals come from the kitchen near the wine! You get a chance to chat to the performers before, between and the end of their sets which is always fun.The nights are relaxed and informal and we start off with a potluck supper (normally chilli and rice but I may start to expand the choice a bit now we are having monthly shows) and everyone brings a bottle and a pudding to share.

The other unique aspect of the show is that children are very welcome. If there are a lot of children, we get two “babysitters” who supervise the children and they can play games, watch a DVD or play X box, PS II and all that other stuff that only people under the age of 21 know about! A lot of the kids come down to listen to the music for the first half and then disappear upstairs for the second but its up to them and you as to how much or little they want to listen to.

The supper starts at 7pm but if you just want to come for the music we sometimes have an opener at 8pm with the main performer coming on at 8.30pm. We generally finish up around 10.30 -11pm but as the international performers often stay over there are often people staying to chat until the early hours.

We ask for donations of £10 for adults, £5 for teens and £2 for children. The club doesnt make any money out of the shows and all of the money after the costs (mainly the babysitters) goes to the performers .
